| General Corrosion Status | Requires specific corrosion protection |
| Stress Corrosion Status | High Resistance to SCC: Table 1 |
| Bimetallic Corrosion | Can be used in a non-controlled environment with: Al+alloys, Cd, Sn-Pb alloys, Sn, Pb Can be used in a clean room environment with: as above and Mg, Ni, Monel, Inconel, Ni-Mo alloys, 300 series SS, 400 series SS, Ti and Ti alloys, Zn, Be Needs specific measures: All others Test: ECSS-Q-ST-70-71 table1 Data Quality: Design Data |
| Machinability | This is a free-machining alloy and both carbide or high-speed tool steel tooling may be used. Carbide tooling is preferred. |
| Welding | Welding of this alloy is NOT recommended |
| Aging | Age hardening (typical for T4 temper) is done by a 510 soak for 3 hours followed by water quench. Other temper variations are possible with additional treatment such as heating to 160 C for 14 hours, after solution heating, to produce T 8 temper. |
