General Corrosion StatusRequires specific corrosion protection
Stress Corrosion Status High Resistance to SCC: Table 1
Bimetallic CorrosionCan be used in a non-controlled environment with: Al+alloys, Cd, Sn-Pb alloys, Sn, Pb
Can be used in a clean room environment with: as above and Mg, Ni, Monel, Inconel, Ni-Mo alloys, 300 series SS, 400 series SS, Ti and Ti alloys, Zn, Be
Needs specific measures: All others
Test: ECSS-Q-ST-70-71 table1

MachinabilityThis is a free-machining alloy and both carbide or high-speed tool steel tooling may be used. Carbide tooling is preferred.
WeldingWelding of this alloy is NOT recommended
AgingAge hardening (typical for T4 temper) is done by a 510 soak for 3 hours followed by water quench. Other temper variations are possible with additional treatment such as heating to 160 C for 14 hours, after solution heating, to produce T 8 temper.
