PRODUCT DATA of 15-5PH H900 |
Material | 15-5PH H900 |
General Information | 15-5PH is a precipitation-hardening, martensitic stainless steel used for parts requiring corrosion resistance and high strength at temperatures up to 315C. Alloy 15-5PH has good transverse ductility and strength in large section sizes. This material is supplied in either the annealed or overaged condition and is heat treated after fabrication |
Processing and Assembly | cold worked and aged at 480C |
Precautions | Parts should never be used in annealed condition. |

General Corrosion Status | No specific corrosion protection required |
Atmospheric Corrosion | The general level of corrosion resistance exceeds that of Types 410 and 431, and is approximately equal to that of 17-4 PH Stainless Steel The general level of corrosion resistance is best in the fully hardened condition, and decreases slightly as the aging temperature is increased. |
Stress Corrosion Status | Moderate Resistance to SCC: Table 2 Remark: Requires Stress corrosion evaluation form Data Quality: Design Data |
Machinability | The forming characteristics are good |
Welding | Can be welded using TIG or eletric arc welding process, but should be performed in annealed condition |
